Why I still Want to be Like Michelle

My current facebook profile pic is one of Michelle Obama and one of my male co-workers said in a joking matter, " I like your profile pic." Another one laughed after I told them she is a role model to me and someone who I can look to for motivation and inspiration. The same guy who joked about the picture said, "Why, she hasn't done anything." Well guys, here's a few reasons why I look up to her:

She grew up in the South Side of Chicago to a father that was a city water plant employee and mother that was secretary (she didn't grow up living the "good life")

Went to Princeton and graduated Cum Laude ( Black Ivy Leaguers, it should be a Facebook group)

Wrote a thesis entitled "Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community" (you better get it girl!)

Got her J.D. from Harvard and protested for hiring of more minority professors ( did not forget where she came from!)
She was Executive Director for the Chicago office of Public Allies, a non-profit organization encouraging young people to work on social issues in nonprofit groups and government agencies (empowering the future of America)

She served as Associate Dean of Student Services at the University of Chicago and she developed the University's Community Service Center (developing outlets for other people to give back to the community)

Worked as Vice President for Community and External Affairs at the University of Chicago hospital, but decided to do part-time so she could spend time with her kids (balanced a career and home)

She made almost $1 million dollars last year and still wear $148 dollar Black House/White Market dresses ( this chick is frugal and fly, what's not to love?)

Married a FINE successful black brother!!!

This woman has the game on lock; time for all my sisters get on that grid and get on Michelle's level.
