"The Hills" on Capitol Hill

The rumors are no longer that; it's true, "The Hills" is coming to DC. MTV is beginning to film a version of the show in DC, with a brand new cast of 4 rich white girls! Way to go MTV! You guys just keep on coming up with the most innovative ideas for shows. This girl right here is one of cast members; I'm already over it. I'm from the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virgina), so I especially took offense to this one:

To my disappoint, I find out MTV and PB & J Television has decided to put more privileged rich white girls on TV. Thank you PB & J for developing yet another show that flaunts the materialism of my generation. Thank you for putting more wealthy spoiled children on television, when gas is $4 a gallon and people have to choose between feeding their children and driving to work. Thanks for putting more partying blond white females on television when we just had a blonde female that was a strong candidate for a political party presidential nominee. Thank you MTV and PB & J for letting people know my generation doesn't care about health care, the environment, or this never ending war. Thank you for developing a show in our Nation's Capitol that will not examine the beauty and the beast of city torn between the million dollar townhouses in Georgetown and the row homes of Southeast D.C. Thanks for developing a show in D.C. with a cast that does not represent the cultural diversity of this amazing city. Thank You MTV and PB & J Television!

What "The Hills"?!?!?!?!??!!!

My friend sent me an article about our favorite fakest reality show, "The Hills" and how much these crazy characters make. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw this one. This info courtesy of the American Chronicles and you might cry after you see these numbers because LC makes more in one episode than the average working American:

Lauren Conrad: $75,000 per episode
Heidi Montag: $65,000 per episode
Spencer Pratt: $65,000 per episode
Audrina Patridge: $35,000 per episode
Whitney Port: $20,000 per episode
Brody Jenner: $10,000 per episode
Lauren "Lo" Bosworth: $10,000 per episode
Stephanie Pratt: $8,000 per episode

What MTV?!??!?!?! First of all, isn't everyone on this show already rich? And why does Brody's crazy behind get that much money when he doesn't do anything but look pretty? As If!!

I Wanna Be Like Michelle

I have never really watched the Democratic National Convention until this year, but I have enjoyed what I have seen so far. Two of the best speeches of the convention so far were given by women. Hilary Clinton and Michelle Obama are two completely different women, but they both know how to captivate an audience. During Michelle's speech, Fade called me and said, "I want to be like Michelle Obama when I grow-up." I think Fade put it nicely when she explained; Michelle Obama is poised, strong, beautiful, and loves her family! It does not get any better than that! Her speech was nice but you can tell her PR people told her she needs to show off her more gentle side because people perceive her as being too militant. It was nice to see the softer side of her.

Even though it sounds like a Sears campaign ad; we are getting to see the softer side of Michelle and we're loving every minute of it.

Men We've Been Running Into

Melissa came across this on the Michelle Obama's facebook page:
"Michelle, you are such an inspiration! Can you teach me and my friends how to strategically implement a foolproof plan to obtain a man like Barack and cultivate a nurturing relationship? ‘Cause the men we’ve been running into aren’t s**t!"

Least to say, this is rather bold statement to put on the future first lady's page, but this girl has a point. Fade said, Michelle met her husband at an ivy league school so maybe she should go to an ivy league and find a man like Barack too. Stop chasing jerseys and bling; open a book. Don't we all wish it was that easy?

Many black people admire the Obama family as the "ideal" picture of the strong black family. A handsome successful college educated man, his stunning and equally successful wife, and their beautiful children. Yes, they are the perfect image; but will we ever find the strong black male who can cultivate that nurturing relationship? Only time will tell.....
