Get 'Ya Cardio Up!

The CDC jut released a study that conveys the effects of obesity over the last decade. The study, lef by Karen Kirtland of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, provides an updated picture of where the disease is prominent. Currently, our nation's obesity epidemic is heavily taxing on the population's overall health. The rate of new diabetes cases nearly doubled in the United States over the last ten years-- most of the new cases are type 2 diabetes. For those who don't know, Type 2 diabetes results from being "obese."

The study found that the incident rates were highest in the South after conducting a state-by-state review of the new diagnoses. West Virginia, ranked the worst where approximately 13 in 1,000 adults were diagnoses with the disease between 2005 and 2007. Minnesota had the lowest rate where the numbers showed 5 in 1,000.

From a national perspective, the rate of new cases increased dramatically from 5 in 1,000 cases during the 1990s to approximately nine in 1000 cases in the middle of the decade. Again, 90 percent of the cases are Type 2 diabetes. These findings correlate with the trends seen in obesity and lack of physical activity-- two health measures where Souther states ranked the lowest.

Diabetes was the nation's leading cause of death in 2005. Recent statistics show that more than 23 million Americans have diabetes and the number is rapidly increasing. According to the study, 1.6 million new cases of diabetes were diagnosed among adults last year!

The good thing is PREVENTION is possible! Since Type 2 diabetes is linked to obesity, the best prevention method is to stay healthy. Studies show that completing 30minutes of physical activities, five times a day, can help you stay fit and is a good prevention measure for diabetes. Get your cardio up people and of course balance your diet. Trust me, daily insulin injections and popping Glucophage pills on a daily basis is NOT the business!

5 Days to Change Rally with President Clinton

The Obama Campaign made another stop in Minnesota! This time, President Bill Clinton came to speak about his belief in Obama's candidacy. President Clinton is an eloquent speaker and spoke passionately about what he knows Barack Obama can do to help foster fundamental change in this nation.
His words filled the room with a fire and energy like no other that I have ever experienced. Clinton's words were amazing; but the most captivating parts of his speech were when he would let that Arkansas accent come out, "Now, you hear me, we're fixin'to win this thing." I agree President Clinton; we're fixin' to have some change.

Talking Politics with the Gyno

Him: So you're going to vote for Barack next week?
Me: Yeah, Barack  Obama.
Him: Yeah if I was black I would vote for him too.
Me: Now hold on, its not simply because he's black.
Him: Yes it is, I'm Italian if an Italian man was running, whether he was qualified or not I would vote for him. I've been asking all of my educated black patients this and they all agree with me.
Me: So what do you have against Barack?
Him: I want a strong military, I was there when they bombed us and I want them all killed. If McCain is in office, all the terrorist will be killed. And America needs a strong military.
In my opinion, Reagan was the best president.
Me: Really, and so the only reason why you want McCain to win is because of the military?
Him: Well, I can't deal with the high taxes
Me: So I take it you fall in that high income bracket?
Him: Yeah, well, due to my pursuit of higher education
Me: Hmm....you are voting for McCain because you're white
Him: No, because of the military and he won't tax me as much as Barack would. Race plays a major issue in this election, however these young people want to vote for Barack but I'm sure they all won't turn out unless they come out by the hundreds.
Me: You might be surprised, there's a chance that McCain might win, you know how funny stuff tends to happen when it comes to politics. (as I give him a glare that really states, you know racist white people will try everything in your power from having him make the office).
Him: ........ Well we will find out what happens, make sure you book your next appointment after next Wednesday.

YES WE CAN!!!!!!!

Since the election is only 1 week away; we will have a political post overload! Almost everyone has seen this video, but I just wanted to post it amidst all this crazy nonsense and hatred targeted towards Obama. There's no denying that this man's words can inspire a nation.

The Sacrificial Lamb

There have been a number of news articles released this morning in regards to the assassination attempts on Barack Obama. Apparently UCA losers who decided to shoot up the University were going on a killing spree—88 dead, 14 African Americans beheaded, and their ultimate goal? Assassinate Barack Obama. We are one week away from a historic election where the first black President of the United States of America will potentially be elected. If you let the polls tell it, Barack has won. But, as we learned in the 2000 elections, the Republicans and supremacist bigots will do anything to rig election results and prevent people from voting for Barack. Hell, we’ve already witnesses some of the attempts here. As my home girl Miss Liston states, “there ain’t nothing new under the sun.” We, in the African American community, know that our transformational leaders decide to go against the norm, go against the odds; they are in essence, sacrificing their lives on behalf of the masses. I mean come on, Dr. King (I know, I know), for example. People hate. Black people too—Jesse Jackson, for example. Seattle PI has reported the significant increase and popularity for the search term “assassinate Barack Obama.” Further disturbing is the energy exerted by this phucktard of an artist who took time out of his busy day to create an exhibit entitled the assassination of Barack Obama. I’m not making this up people, click the link, the evidence is there!

Am I surprised? Hell no. But what pisses me off are the teachers and professors in the Universities who act like Lincoln really emancipated the slaves and that prejudice does not exist. Seriously, scramble the CD (compact disc for the slow folks). The McCains of America are ready to fight a war that has not fundamental purpose but can’t deal with the issue of racism, ignorance, prejudice, white supremacy, and all of the above in their own backyard! What makes it worse is that global citizens are predicting that Obama won’t last long in the White House—no, not because he’s whack, but because they predict an early assassination of his life if he is elected to run the white house.

STOCKHOLM (AFP) - If Barack Obama becomes the next US president he will surely be assassinated, British Nobel literature laureate Doris Lessing predicted in a newspaper interview published here Saturday.
Obama, who is vying to become the first black president in US history, "would certainly not last long, a black man in the position of president. They would murder him," Lessing, 88, told the Dagens Nyheter daily. (Huffington Post)

But never mind, have no fear, American History is here! We’ve had how many black leaders and how many assassination attempts on their lives? Exactly. When a black leader comes to light, he or she knows that they are making a sacrifice…

It’s 2008, homey. It’s going to take more than a bullet with my name on it to prevent me from putting Barack in the White House. Hell, I’ll even volunteer to join his body guard team. STAMP!

BARACK THE VOTE! November 4th, 2008.

What If????

Seven Days and Counting! I got my voter registration card in the mail yesterday so Novemeber 4th here I come! My girl Coutura forwarded me this email full of "What if?" inquiries. I appreciate the inquiries. I appreciate them more because they call into question the hypocrisy of our double standard society!

Soooo... What if???

Obama/Biden vs McCain/Palin, what if things were switched around? .....think about it. Would the country's collective point of view be different?

Ponder the following: What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, including a three month old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter?

What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review?

What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?

What if McCain had only married once and Obama was a divorcee?

What if Obama was the candidate who left his first wife after a severe disfiguring car accident, when she no longer measured up to his standards?

What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he was still married?

What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to painkillers but also acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?

What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?

What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five?(The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s.)

What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker? What if Obama couldn't read from a teleprompter?

What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included; discipline problems and a record of crashing seven planes?

What if Obama was the one who was known to display publicly, on many occasions, a serious anger management problem?

What if Michelle Obama's family had made their money from beer distribution.

You could easily add to this list. If these questions reflected reality,do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?

The Chicago Tribune reported finding the body of young male child in the stolen car belonging to the Hudson family. They've been looking for Julian King, Jennifer Hudson's 7-year old nephew. The Tribune reported:
A child's body was found in the vehicle police were looking for in their search for 7-year-old Julian King, the missing nephew of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson.

The 1994 white Chevrolet Suburban with Illinois license plate X584859 was found in the 1300 block of South Kolin Avenue around 8 a.m. Live TV shots showed a white Chevrolet Suburban being towed away.

The Obama Effect

The University of Minnesota is hosting "The Obama Effect" conference and having several forums and events about Barack Obama's race to The White House. Tonight Joe Feagin, a Pulitzer Prize nominated sociology professor at Texas A&M University, spoke on "The Impact of White Racism on the Obama Campaign." This white male (pictured ) was the most educated person I have ever heard speak on the topic of race.

He started with, "America is the only advanced country in the world founded on racial oppression"; yes he meant business. Obama is probably in the top 2 or 3 most talented men to run for president and has one of the best organized and tech savy campaigns in history. However, he still does not have the majority of the white vote and many white voters continue to doubt his ability to lead this nation. Based on Obama's credentials, this election should be a landslide. Obama is only leading the polls by a small margin because of the "White Racial Frame" that dates back to the foundation of this nation.

Since the beginning of this nation, white people have believed that white is virtuous and black is bad. This idea that black is bad has extensively fueled the image of the "dangerous black man." The black male is often stereotyped, as inferior, angry, and violent; I mean look at how the media ripped Dr. Jeremiah Wright to pieces because of a 30-second clip from a 40 minutes sermon. However, we barely heard about John Hagee, John McCain's long time friend and pastor that married him and his wife Cindy. Yes, Hagee's comments about having a "slave sale" to raise funds for high school seniors or that "Hurricane Katrina was God's curse on New Orleans" were over looked. But the media just cannot let this Reverend Wright story go.

Why has Barack Obama been able to escape this label and come so close to becoming this nation's first black president? Answer: He is making history because white people see him as the "exception to his race." Obama can maintain a strong black persona and dodge race issues at the same time. He was raised by a white mother and went to a good school, one Obama campaign volunteer explained "he is not the product of any ghetto." No he is not the product of any ghetto, but the majority of American-Americans aren't either. Does that mean myself and all my friends are also "exceptions to our race?"

Barack Obama must talk and act in a way that pleases white liberals. It's acceptable for John McCain to get angry during debates, but Barack Obama must watch what he says and keep his composure. If not, the white liberals will label him as that dangerous black male.

Professor Feagin said so much more, but I think I will save the rest for later. I agree with most of his arguments; and understand how Barack must feel everyday. Like I asked in my previous post; When we will stop having to prove ourselves to white people?

Why Do We Put Up This?

African-American females and females in general put up with a lot of nonsense on a day to day basis; especially at work. We put up with disrespectful co-workers, less recognition, and do work outside of our normal job description.

I'm not sure about other races but I say black women tend to "put up" with this mediocre treatment because of "the nature of the black female." From the day we were born, it is ingrained in our heads that we are to be strong black females; follow in the foot steps of Rosa, Ella, Coretta, Shirley, Oprah, and of course, our mothers. We are taught that in order to be considered on the same level and playing field as our white colleagues, we must be 10 times better than them. Study harder; join every club ever created and make sure you have a leadership position in at least 5 of them; speak properly and watch what you say in public because you might get stereotyped as the angry black female; and mask your feelings, never let people see you cry.

Why do we put up with this mess? Are we afraid that people will take advantage of us if we let down our guard? Do we think our bosses will believe we are unqualified for the job if we make 1 mistake? I do not have the answers to all these questions and many other questions that run through my mind while at work; but I have formed opinions based on my experiences. And I do believe that some people doubt my intelligence and capability when they first take a look at me, so I strive to be better than average and prove them wrong. In fact, I feel like I am proving myself to someone everyday of my life; a co-worker, boss, or even people I work with outside of the company. It's almost like I have to prove that I derserve to be where I am just as much as the next person.

I am sure I am not alone in my feelings, but I often wonder if my mentality will change as I progress in my career. Will I ever feel like I do not have to prove myself?

Go See This Movie

I saw The Secret Life of Bees and I would highly recommend watching it. The movie takes places in 1964, when the Civil Rights Act was passed and because of this, certain parts of the movie were very difficult to watch. I would also recommend bringing a box of tissues as well, this one might make you cry. Overall the acting was good and story line flowed very well. I don't want to give away too much movie, so just go see it!

Just a side note, people are trying to save money, so if you have a college ID (even if you graduated), don't forget to ask about student discounts and you're never too cool for matinees!

20 something single gals guide to dating

During this age its all about finding ourselves. We are getting used to our grown selves and have gotten accustomed to what we like and don't in a man. By this point you have dated over a handful of guys that probably aren't worth a damn. Of course all of us have fallen in love with that bad boy, artist, athlete, or the lone skater. Whoever it may be isn't the point. The fact of the matter is, to experience being in a relationship is what makes you a better person and prepare you for THE ONE. We are young, fun, and fierceless young woman. Enjoy going out with plenty of men while discovering your city. Enjoy now because in about a few years, you may be tied down i.e Successful career, husband, and bouncing baby. Be spontaneous, and surprise yourself. Next time you see that guy sitting across from you on the train, give him eye contact for a few seconds, wink if you will, he may be daydreaming about you simultaneously as you day dream about him.

Do know that at this age, our libidos may be wild but that doesn't mean you have to be a loose canon, pleasure comes in being safe.

In the instance you wow him with your fancy, Here are ideal dates for him to fancy you:

*Take dinner and a movie to another level by going to the IMAX theatre and hitting a hookah lounge afterwards. Not only will you see a movie in 3-d, but you will end the night on a serene high note....

*For those lucky girls that hit it big and meet an investment banker while sippin on a Caramel Macchiato at Starbucks, allow him to make your first date at a fun and cheap location. You don't want him to see you for what you want-which is him to spend money on you, not yet atleast! Chelsea Pier in New York is excellent. You can go ice skating, play basketball, hockey, whatever you like.

*Swanky lounge, believe it or not, theres nothing sexier than a man not having to worry about meeting a girl, spending outrageous money on drink prices, and having to chase her around. His dream girl is in the club with him and he will profess his smittance with you. And you will be able to determine if he has rhythm! A hot date spot in New York is SOBS, dance the night away with pulsating Brazilian sounds or Neo soul R&b. Do this on a Thursday-as you know it is the new Friday.

*Staying in is the new going out, this should occur by the 5th or 6th date. We are in a recession and you can't expect to spend big money everytime you want to go out. You can get to know each other on a more serious level while being comfortable. Order a large pizza and watch a chick/action flick!

Remember, we are young, vibrant, and fierce. Men can smell this and are immediately attracted to this. Give a little, take a lot, ok well maybe not take a lot, but its usually more fun this way :)

Tell me your best dating tips!

John McCain Needs a Chill Pill

After 2 subpar debates, Barack Obama, John McCain, and the Commission on Presidential Debates finally got it right. The 3rd and final presidential candidate aired last night; it was engaging, entertaining, and McCain's facial expressions were down right hilarious. Bob Schieffer was hands down the best moderator of all the debates and asked questions that pushed the candidates out of their comfort zones.

John McCain performed better than he has on any other debate, but made his common mistake of speaking on and continually repeating comments that diminish his performance rather than help. John really failed this time when he brought up Joe the Plummer. I thought the debate's topic was domestic issues, not Joe the Plummer. Another blow to the McCain camp was when he got all bent out of shape after Schieffer asked an excellent question about the negative ads from both sides of the campaign. McCain claimed that Obama's campaign has "spent more money on ever in the history of presidential elections" on negative ads. He was also extremely upset about a congress man's recent statements that basically labeled him and Sarah Palin racist and the fact that Obama didn't repute these statements. Obama summed it up nicely when he said the American people could care less about our hurt feelings and that his campaign did issue a response. If McCain was so bent out of shape, why for remainder of the debate, did he continue to bring up negative issues to attack Obama with; he commented on Obama's "association" with Williams Ayers, Acorn, his views on abortion, and school vouchers. John McCain needs to take a chill pill and practice hiding his disdain for Barack Obama better.

Fortunately for Obama, McCain's falters were his opportunities to build. Although he did not have to, Obama explained every attack McCain made against him. I mean Obama's was an attorney at law, what did McCain expect?

Go Korto!

I'm in love with her collection and it's roots to Africanism. I LOVE it!

I'm kind of upset that Leanne beat Korto. Korto's collection was phenomenal and showed far more variety than Leanne. I'm sure Korto will be successful, her collection was displayed during NY Fashion Week and I forsee a large number of celebrity contacts and designer contracts in her bright future!

LOVE YOU, KORTO!

If you liked it then you should've put a ring on it?

Beyonce's single. Ok, so I'll be honest, I'm not the greatest fan of this single, and I'm sure a significant number of individuals may disagree with my personal sentiments. "Single Ladies" is belongs to the same rhythm familia of "Get Me Bodied" and reminds men everywhere that "if you liked it, then you should've put a ring on it." As my homegirl WJ boasts, "what if I didn't want the ring?" Have at it.

Change We Really Need Rally!!!!!!!!!

After hearing Mrs. Michelle Obama speak about her husband's belief and dreams for this nation with enough the passion and belief to move mountains, I am ready to go out a march on Washington!! Well maybe I can't just yet, but I am definitely more fired up about this election than ever before. She only mentioned McCain's name 1 time during her conversation (the audience barely reacted) and spent most of the time talking about her life and her family. I call her words a conversation, because she did not talk to us like she had memorized a speech, but rather like she was having a one-on-one conversation with each person and every person in the room. She spoke as if I saw her walking down the street, stopped her, and asked, "Michelle, tell me about yourself and your family." This woman is amazing and I can't wait for her to take the role of first lady to a new level.

If Michelle is having a rally or community event in a city near you, I highly suggest you see her. It was a moment I will never forget.

Osama Substituted for Obama on Absentee Ballots

WHAT RENSSALAER COUNTY?!?!?!?!?!?! 300 of the 4000 absentee ballots mailed to residents of Renssalaer County had the "typo" Barack Osama rather than displaying his actual name, Barack Obama. The ballots were mailed, despite the ballots being checked by 3 staff members and the fact that "s" and "b" are no where near each other on a keyboard. The article link goes into more detail:

Renssalaer County officials claim the typo was unintentional.....

Obama Psi Phi?

SO, some genius middle school teacher in Missouri was suspended Monday for uploading a video on YouTube of his students spitting information from Barack Obama speeches and wearing military fatigues. The video, called "Obama Youth -- Junior Fraternity Regiment," was posted by a YouTube user named "keepitwildtv" on Oct. 2. The school found out about it and suspended the teacher the following Monday. Wowzers, this election is causing people to deviate from the norm. However, I commend the teacher for educating his student on Obama's proposed policies and recommendations.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta

Lisa, DeShawn, Kim, NeNe, and Sheree are Bravo's new housewives from Atlanta. I caught the premiere and I couldn't help but think, this is going to be one southern mess of a season. Kim, the "black woman in a white womans body" is a riot, she has a hidden identity sugar daddy whom is called, "Big Poppa", whenever she needs something she makes that phone call, and money just magically shows up. You have to see the Cadilac escalade she purchased, she literally wrote a check for $62,000 and drove off the lot. Then there's Shere whom is currently unemployed but is rich due to her boutique in downtown Atlanta, Bella Azul and her divorce settlement, NeNe is married to a rich business man, and the other 2-Lisa and Deshawn are wealthy due to graduating with a Rich Athlete Degree. As a .5 Atlantan, I appreciate Bravo for featuring this great and exciting city. Many African Americans have migrated down there due to the plethora of land, equal opportunities, and comfort.

On the plus side, this show features fabulous yet real women, on the low side, I'm afraid its going to portray black woman as being loud, catty, and ghetto. Watch the video and tell me what you think of this seasons It Woman.

"That one" has an angry and volatile demeanor

Get your urban news at DimeWars.Com

Do we really want a president that will throw a bitch fit every other day? Its obvious that this man has anger issues, maybe its derived from being in the military, or life's everyday stress, but I don't want a wife beater, angry, noncomposed man as president. Obama is much more calm, relaxed, and composed. Ebony Magazine chose him as one of the 25 coolest, check out the cover below. How do you feel about McCainiacs unusual temperament?

51st Ebony Fashion Fair: The Runway Report

Sunday, October 5 at the Legendary Apollo Theatre Ebony Fashion Fair, the largest travelling fashion show graced the Apollo with yet another legendary performance. This show reported on all that is hip.hot.and whats now!
The show featured impeccable designs from the houses of Giuseppe Zanotti, Dior, Christian Lacroix, Missoni, and more.
This wasn't your typical fashion show where rail thin European models sulk down the runway, Ebony Fashion Fair models brought in the fierce, fun, and fashion! The models were able to display their personality but most importantly the meticulous garment designs. Here are my two favorites-
Christian Lacroix wrap waist silk gown with abstract print:

Haute couture collection by Italian designer Sarli:

As you know, I held it down for the Suite Suede fashionistas and attended sought out shows during NYC fashion week and literally every show-except Baby Phat, did not book more than a handful of black models. Apparently, having Chanel Iman grace your runway fills the status quo....

But what makes Ebony Fashion Fair show more compelling is its significant history.  Fashion Icon EuniceW. Johnson, came up with the original concept of the Ebony Fashion Fair in the 1960s because she wanted to create a platform where black women could gain entry into the fashion industry. Unfortunately, the scarcity of black models still stands firm today. Tyra has spoke on this several times on her show, and this has caused debates amongst fashionistas everywhere.

Vogue Italia devoted  their entire July issue to display the power aesthetic of Black Beauty. There were 3 different covers, and I just had to grab the Naomi issue! The reason behind this was to put it out there simply: Black women are a financially motivating force in the fashion industry, and we need to be featured! I literally searched high and low in every magazine/bodega shop in NYC to cop this collector's item. Talk about being the most wanted issue ever!
When we grace covers, we CAN and WILL sell off the shelf: Take that haters

Toughen up those Summer Dresses!

Fellow suite-sueders, the economy is in shambles and we recognize that fabulocity on a budget is essential for Fall 2008. No fear, the fall trends don't require you to go out and purchase any new items-- in fact, the fall trend is very budget friendly. Apparently, Hollywood is experiencing the dentrimental ramifications of our greedy banks. Essence.com is recommending that women wear oversized cardigans over there summer dresses with a waist belt. This look will keep you warm without looking crazy in a wool coat. Don't forget that wrap dresses also look great! Animal print is a big trend this year; dare to be different, dare to be bold, dare to be animalistic! Wrap dresses can take you a LONG way with a pair of pumps or fierce knee boots.

Casual fridays? No fear! Bring out those skinny jeans from last fall. Wear some cute booties and a casual sweater, you can still maintain that chic, yet professional look, in your office.

In the mean time, visit New York and Company this week for fashion-forward dresses for a CHEAP price! The company is offering a 70% discount on all items thru October 13, 2008. I was able to purchase 3 fabulous dresses and a nice blouse for the office for under 60 bucks- this includes the shipping price as well! Say It Ain't So, Joe!

Ok, let me preface this by saying I understand that Palin's inexperienced behind was up against Biden, who has over 35 years of experience. Nonetheless, it does not excuse her from being ignorant of the United States Constitution and reading scripted responses. Moreso, she avoided all of the questions and redirected the discussion to oil reserves in Alaska (so?) and how much McCain is a Maverick. That's almost as bad as 50cent telling his artists to yell "G G G-Unit" one more time! What makes it even worse is the fact that her responses were ALL scripted and she still mispronounced the TALIBAN (she kept saying the Talibani) and mispronounced the name of General McKiernan (she kept saying McClellan). If you are going to be an avid defender of the war in Iraq, you should at least know the people you are defending! The video posted above echoes my personal sentiments of the Vice Presidential debate last night. As always, your feedback is very much appreciated.

Aha! The reason why Palin's responses are always scripted is because deep down, in the root of her soul, she knows she feels Obama is the better pick. After all, the idea of change is resonating through the Alaskan people.

Biden vs Palin

The VP debates were much more exciting than the presidential debates because the candidates actually debated. Both Joe Biden and Sarah Palin performed well during their first and only pubilc debate.

Fortunately, Sarah Palin was not a train wreck and did what she was supposed to do tonight: Stick the the rehearsed script that the McCain campaign gave her and mention that John McCain is a "Maverick" at least 25 times in the 46 minutes she spoke. And when didn't have a good/rehearsed answer to a question, she made sure to remind people of her experience as governor of an energy efficient state and the ticket that's going to bring real change to America. She also remembered to smile, look into the camera during the well rehearsed sections, and wink when she said something that she thought would connect with the all "Joe six-packs and hockey moms" that were watching. I am only commenting on what I saw during the debate because this was the candidate's first chance outside of the conventions to let the American people know who they are and their stance on tough issues.

Joe Biden is chairman of the Senate's Foreign Relations Committee and effectively displayed his knowledge on foreign policy; especially when he spoke on the threat of Pakistan and Iran. However, Sarah Palin has no experience with foreign policy and made sure she avoided answering the difficult questions by reverting back to her work as governor of a state, in America. For example, when asked about the condition of Israel, Palin gave her rehearsed answer and then listened to Biden's answer. However, rather than rebuttal his statement, she completely avoided the chance to prove her intelligence on the issue and started talking about "how the American people needed a ticket that believes in this country and the ticket that's going to bring real change to Washington."Her rebuttal had nothing to do with Israel, in fact, I believe she repeated the same "Ahmadinejad said we're going to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth" statement that John McCain said last week's debate.

The only time Biden really took a stab at a Palin mistake was when they were both asked about Dick Cheney's belief on the role of the VP. Palin made a big mistake by saying she agreed with the idea that the vice president's role is not fully part of the Executive Branch. She didn't stick to the script and her response made it look like she didn't understand the basic fundamentals of the U.S. Constitution. Biden quickly answered back that the role of the VP is clearly stated in article 1 of the constitution and that his role is to support Obama.

Both candidates came to do what they had do; they did not say anything absolutely crazy to upset the American people and send the media into a frenzy. Final note; kudos to the McCain camp for showing us they know how to turn a woman into a well trained doll!

VOGUE Visionary

Vogue has gotten with the program—the Magazine featured Obama on a Special Issue entitled “Visionaries.” First and foremost, kudos to Vogue Magazine for doing the damn thing! First they had Black Vogue Italia and now Obama on the cover of Men’s Vogue. In the words of Melissa, it “looks like Vogue does realize the earth has other people besides…stick figures.” Amen to that! Can't wait to receive the hard copy to see what the article on Obama is about. Yes to PROGRESS!
