Michelle Obama on Good Morning America

Robin Roberts interviews Michelle for her first TV interview as First Lady. She lets her down-to-earth side show in this interview. I love it when she says, I'm just trying to be me, expect I'm First Lady. She's great! Watch the interview:

Michelle Obama's Official White House Photo!

Isn't she lovely?

Michelle Obama's official White House photo was recently released and I must say she is looking quite fabulous. It is definitely a step up from the negative depictions of her, released by The New Yorker, during the campaign seasons.

Michelle Obama may not have been at the Oscars...

BUT WHOA!!!!!!!! She put women half her age to shame last night, at the White House Governor's Dinner. I think she might have even looked better than she did inauguration night, but I understand that inauguration was a hectic day.

Michelle Obama graces the March cover of Vogue!

Michelle Obama is on the March issue of Vogue; I will be picking up about 5 issues of this! Doesn't see look great? And don't be fooled by mainstream media claiming 10 or more African American women have been on the cover of Vogue, it's a lie. Michelle Obama is the 4th African American woman to grace the cover alone; Halle Berry, Oprah Winfrey, and Jennifer Hudson have previously been Vogue cover models.

The 2nd most anticipated moment of Jan. 20th

So, the wait is finally over, we saw Michelle Obama's dress! Literally an hour after she appeared at the "Neighborhood Ball", the Internet was in a frenzy over that dress. According to People online, the designer is Jason Wu, and I'm pretty sure his life will change forever.

I think the dress is WONDERFUL!!! But, she threw me for a loop. I definitely thought she would wear a color, but I knew she would have her shoulders and arms out because she has a well toned upper body. However, this dress was a great choice. The one shoulder strap and the flower detailing looked great; however, people watching on TV might think the detailing was too much but I have a feeling the dress is more stunning in person. The only problem was the length and how she kept having to adjust the train while she was dancing. But overall, I think she looked stunning. Lastly, give the woman a break it's her night, she's not worried about anyone but her and husband and remembering this night for the rest of her life.

This is surreal

I usually don't like to write about religion, but after watching what took place in Washington DC today, you can't help but believe that God is real and God is good. Can you imagine? Did you ever imagine? A day when an African American male would be sworn in as President of the United States of America? Could you even fathom the idea, the concept, of a an America with an united front? A place where white, black, gay, straight, and disabled would come together with so much passion, unity, and hope for a better America?

Less than 40 years ago, the Civil Rights Act was passed, less than 50 years ago black and white people protested and marched for freedom. Less than 40 years ago, the nation's most influential black leaders were assassinated in hatred and fear. But on this day, January 20th, 2009; an African American male spoke before millions of people about the progress of this great nation. An African American male brought our nation together like never before.

I still can't get my head around this; it's surreal. I couldn't really believe the announcer when he introduced President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. I really can't describe how I'm feeling right now, but I know I feel better about America's future.

King Day of Service Tomorrow

Tomorrow is MLK National Day of service and Barack Obama is calling on all Americans to make this a "day on" instead of a "day off." It's not too late to sign up, there are so many places and organizations that need help tomorrow. Search for opportunities here:

What will Michelle wear?

The inauguration is 2 weeks away and DC is getting ready for the event of year. People are all a buzz about what Michelle will wear to the Official Inaugural Ball and the entire week of events. CNN and Access Hollywood did a stories on this and Youtube is even having a contest for people to submit videos about what they think she will wear. I can't even imagine the pressure she might be feeling right now, but it must be kind of great to have everyone want to dress you in amazing clothes.

During the campaign, her fashion statements became top news as she was often compared to a very fab former First Lady. In fact, the media has already crowned Michelle the next Jackie O. She's worn some great ensembles in the past, and everyone is on pins and needles to see what she'll dazzle us with during the inauguration events.

National Mall Open On Inauguration Day

The Presidential Inaugural Committee announced that for the first time in history, the National Mall will be open to the public during the swearing in ceremony of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States. I am already getting chills thinking about this inauguration; it will definitely be the most historic event of my lifetime (well after November 4th, 2008).

Barack and Michelle Obama visited George and Laura Bush at the White House today. Barack and George talked about the Presidential Transition and Laura gave Michelle a tour of the White House. Off topic, but Michelle Obama looks amazing in that dress; and Laura was pretty fly as well.
